The Chimp From Those Old Tarzan JUST Died This Weekend. For Real!

A chimpanzee who appeared as "Cheeta" in the Tarzan films of the early 1930s just died Saturday. He was believed to be around 80 years old. He had experienced kidney failure earlier in the week. An article on his death actually claims he enjoyed throwing poop in his later years at an animal sanctuary.

A chimpanzee who appeared as “Cheeta” in the Tarzan films of the early 1930s just died Saturday. He was believed to be around 80 years old. He had experienced kidney failure earlier in the week.

Off camera he want by Cheetah, or Cheetah-Mike and was one of several chimps who was in the films with Johnny Weissmuller.

After living on Weissmuller’s estate, Cheetah retired to Suncoast Primate Sanctuary in Palm Harbor, Fla in around 1960.

According to PEOPLE magazine, “Cheetah enjoyed playing football, listening to nondenominational Christian music, and occasionally throwing poop when he was feeling disgruntled.”

You can’t make this stuff up.
