Peter Falk, Star of “Columbo” Dies at 83

Sad news to report today, as Peter Falk passed away last night at the age of 83.

TMZ had a statement from a family rep, who said,

“Peter Falk, 83-year-old Academy Award nominee and star of television series, ‘Columbo’, died peacefully at his Beverly Hills home in the evening of June 23, 2011.”

Falk, who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, played the iconic Columbo for a total of 69 episodes, starting in 1971.  His film credits include PRINCESS BRIDE, THE GREAT RACE, and one of my absolute favorites, the criminally underrated THE THING ABOUT MY FOLKS.

Peter Falk is survived by his wife, Shera, of 34 years and two daughters from a previous marriage.”

In memory, here is the trailer from THE THING ABOUT MY FOLKS, and I suggest if you haven’t seen it yet, put it to the top of your Netflix cue, or just take my word and buy it.
