Did Bill Murray Really Tear Up Dan Aykroyd’s GHOSTBUSTERS 3 Script? Aykroyd Says No
A few weeks ago, we reported that Bill Murray literally put Dan Aykroyd’s GHOSTBUSTERS 3 script through a shredder and sent it back to him. Well now, we’re finding out that that’s just not true.
In a new interview with Empire, Dan Aykroyd is speaking out on the rumor, saying that it just wouldn’t be possible for Murray to do that:
“Bill Murray is not capable of such behaviour. This is simply something that would not be in his nature. We have a deep, private personal relationship that transcends business. We communicate frequently and his position on the involvement in GHOSTBUSTERS 3 has been made clear and I respect that. But Bill has too much positive estimation of my writing skills to shred the work.”
Well that’s a good thing to hear at least…that your good friend isn’t capable of tearing up your work.
Empire went on to hint that another option would be a “Jack Ryan”-style recasting, something that obviously won’t work very well with fans of the series.
Aykroyd also spoke about another casting issue in the form of Rick Moranis, who has been in self-imposed exile from the film industry every since HONEY WE SHRUNK OURSELVES back in 1997:
“If we can get the script to GHOSTBUSTERS 3 right, then it would definitely have Moranis as a major component. None of us would want to do the movie without having him as a participant.”
This really isn’t looking too good, is it…?
Well, in the mean time…
