Man Arrested for Attacking Police with Lightsabers…Yup

David Allen Canterbury went to a local Toys R Us store this week, picked up two toy STAR WARS lightsabers, and started to hit customers with them.

Best story of my day, hands down.

David Allen Canterbury went to a local Toys R Us store this week, picked up two toy STAR WARS lightsabers, and started to hit customers with them.

Police were called to the scene.  Instead of surrendering, the 33-year-old actually carried the lightsabers outside the store and swung at police.

Best part, however?  When officers tried to use a Taser to subdue him, Canterbury actually use the lightsaber and deflected one of the wires!!  (The force is strong with this one…)

Police eventually wrestled Canterbury to the ground.  He pleaded no contest to fourth-degree assault and resisting arrest, and was sentenced to 45 days in jail, two years of probation and a mental-health evaluation that could call for treatment.

Canterbury has been banned from Toys R Us, and has apologized to his victims.

Yay, lightsabers.
