Pac Man To Become Animated TV Series!?

Everything old is new again. (I sure hope this adage applies to me someday.) Pac Man is back – as an animated TV series.

The show, tentatively-titled “Pac-Man: The Adventure Begins,” is expected to debut in fall 2013.

Based on the game that 8 year olds are completely unfamiliar with, Pac Man will air on Disney’s XD network, with targets kids 6-14.

Pac-Man first made its way onto the scene in 1980 in arcades. (Explain that to children if they’re in the room.) An animated TV series produced by Hanna-Barbera based on the game, Pac-Man: The Animated Series, aired from 1982-83 on ABC.

This is by no means the first time that a studio has relied on parental nostalgia to draw an audience. In 2011, The Smurfs premiered in movie theaters after a long hiatus from the world of TV. It has 142 million dollars worldwide.
