“The Hunger Games” Could Be The Hottest Selling Movie That Hasn’t Come Out Yet!
If you’re still in the dark about the upcoming film ‘The Hunger Games’ – don’t worry, you’ll be hearing a LOT more about it. The movie has pre-sold out 2,000 screens, and has already surpassed the first Twilight film. Get this: some think the opening weekend could bring in $140 million dollars! (Conservative estimates say the very least the film could take in would be 85 million.)
Movie ticket seller Fandango says the film is garnering 92% of its daily sales – and Entertainment Weekly says the film has officially outsold any other non-sequel movie in history, on advanced ticket sales.
As of this posting – the movie still has some sales to make before making the official list of top five advance ticket sellers which are:  The Twilight Saga: New Moon, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part Two, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part One, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part One.
The movie is set in American of the future, where each year one boy and one girl are selected to take part in a televised fight to the death. Suzanne Collins wrote the novel. Today she is taking a bath in money. (I’m guessing on that last part.) But here’s why: it’s part of a trilogy of books (sequels, anyone?) and more than 26 million copies have sold.
