NBC announced last night that while its much acclaimed sitcom will be returning for the 2012-2013 season, it will only air 13 episodes.

The show, which has been a critical favorite since premiering in 2006, has won 10 Emmys (on a record-setting 57 nominations), and has featured a number of high-profile guest stars, including Matt Damon, Elizabeth Banks and Al Gore. This year’s audience has dwindled to an average 3.5 million viewers.
