Biopic Based on STAR WARS Actor Peter Mayhew Gets Picked Up.
For many normal movie fans, the name Peter Mayhew may not mean much. But for fans of STAR WARS, it is absolutely legendary. And now, the man who played Chewbacca in one of the most beloved trilogies of all time is finally getting his story told.
Hollywood Reporter is reporting that CHEWIE, the story the actor who played the most loveable sidekick this side of the galaxy, is in the developmental stages. Its script, which was written by writers Evan Susser and Van Robichaux, was on the black list (a list of the best unmade screenplays that are still around) for a while now, but just got picked up.
CHEWIE will take place in 1977 and tell the story of Mayhew as he tries to balance his job as a hospital worker and his Hollywood dream as he gets to play the soon to be iconic wookie.
Ironically enough, Kyle Newman also directed FANBOYS, a comedy about a group of kids who break into the Skywalker ranch to get an early viewing of EPISODE I: THE PHANTOM MEANACE.
This is all very exciting for STAR WARS fans because it gives an inside look into the making of the trilogy and the creation of the character that became a fan favorite.
So who do we get to play Harrison Ford?
