Bob Hoskins, Diagnosed With Parkinson’s Disease, Retires From Acting
Sad news to report today in the world of acting…legendary actor Bob Hoskins has just announced that he is being forced to retire.
The BBC is reporting that the star of such classics as WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT and HOOK has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. His agent released a statement today, saying:
“He wishes to thank all the great and brilliant people he has worked with over the years, and all of his fans who have supported him during a wonderful career…Bob is now looking forward to his retirement with his family, and would greatly appreciate that his privacy be respected at this time.”
While he loved the theater from a young age, Hoskins’ acting career started accidentally when he accompanied a friend to an audition and was confused for someone trying out. The 69-year-old was nominated for a Best Actor Oscar in 1986 for his starring role in MONA LISA, and was most recently seen playing one of the dwarves in the new SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN.
