VIDEO: Bill Nye The Science Guy Asks Parents To Forget Creationalism

While he may have been out of the spotlight for a while, a recent two minute video Nye did for online knowledge forum Big Think, is getting a lot of attention

Bill Nye the Science Guy is a man that I will follow to the grave.  He taught me literally everything I know about science, and even in my 20s, I still enjoy listening to him speak about the field he loves so much.

While he may have been out of the spotlight for a while, a recent two minute video Nye did for online knowledge forum Big Think, is getting a lot of attention…In the video, Nye defends the theory of evolution and says that those who don’t believe in it holds back a nation that should be much farther ahead of itself.

But more than anything, the 56-year-old science guy asks that even if parents don’t believe in evolution, to please not raise their children that way:

“And I say to the grownups, if you want to deny evolution and live in your world, in your world that’s completely inconsistent with everything we observe in the universe, that’s fine…But don’t make your kids do it because we need them. We need scientifically literate voters and taxpayers for the future. We need people that can — we need engineers that can build stuff, solve problems.”

Take a look at the video below, and let us know what you think.  It should be interesting to see where all of this goes in the upcoming election season…
