Weekend Box Office Report – Expendables 2 Blows Away Competition - POP GOES THE WEEK!!

Weekend Box Office Report – Expendables 2 Blows Away Competition

Take a look at the winners of this weekends box office!

Okay, okay…Maybe saying the EXPENDABLES sequel blew away the competition is an overestimate, but nonetheless the big time sequel did take  home the box office crown this weekend.

THE EXPENDABLES 2 took in a total of $28 million over the past three days, knocking THE BOURNE LEGACY out of the top spot from last week.  Granted, that’s about $6 million less than what the original made during its opening weekend, but something tells me Sly isn’t complaining.

As for BOURNE, the fourth entry took in an estimated $17.1 million, bringing its worldwide total to $97.7 million dollars and giving it the number two spot.

Not too far behind in the number three spot was the new stopmotion animated feature PARANORMAN, which took in $14.1 million. Rounding out the top five was the Will Ferrell/Zach Galifianakis comedy THE CAMPAIGN, which brought in another $13.1 million, and Whitney Houston’s final film,  SPARKLE, which brought in $12 million on a $14 million budget.

Other worthy weekend notes: THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is expected to reach $900 million worldwide this week, and Disney’s BRAVE became the 11th Pixar film to pass the $400 million plateau.
