VIDEO: “The West Wing” Cast Reunites For A New PSA

If we can get a “West Wing” reunion every few months for good reasons like this, I think I’ll be the happiest man on the planet.

If we can get a “West Wing” reunion every few months for good reasons like this, I think I’ll be the happiest man on the planet.

Back in May, the cast of the hit presidential show reunited for a “Funny or Die” walk-and-talk skit to promote the Everbody Walk! campaign for fitness.  And today, they are back to speak about non-partisan ballots!

Martin Sheen, Allison Janney and Bradley Whitford, among other key cast members, are back in a new four-minute video that addresses the fact that (according to NBCNews) “many Michigan voters who check off a straight party-line ticket unknowingly skip crucial parts of their ballot where nonpartisan candidates, like those for the state Supreme Court, are listed.”

The video came together as a result of a discussion that Michigan State Supreme Court candidate Bridget McCormack had with her sister, Mary, who played Deputy National Security Adviser Kate Harper on the show. Bridget said in an interview with Michigan Live,

“It sort of snowballed and all of sudden, Martin Sheen signed up and I was like, ‘Whoa,’”

While the longer version below plugs McCormack, a slightly shorter version does not even mention her, something that the candidate says shouldn’t even matter:

“It doesn’t even matter what side of the issue you’re on. More of us should participate. That’s really the only goal — it’s a real public education goal,”

Check out the full video, which cost less than $5,000 to make (costs included insurance, rental fees, food and props…the cast and crew donated their time for free), below.
