The Munsters Reboot “Mockingbird Lane” Is No More

The "Mockingbird Lane" Halloween Special (aka the pilot) will be the only bit of the show we’ll ever see…

I was actually looking forward to the new Munsters television series, “Mockingbird Lane”.  After all the reports and the Halloween preview, it was starting to really win me over.  Sadly, though, the Halloween Special (aka the pilot) will be the only bit of the show we’ll ever see…

The show’s producer, Bryan Fuller (of “Pushing Dasies” fame) confirmed on Twitter this week that NBC has closed the doors on everyone’s favorite Halloween family, saying:

“I [write] with a heavy heart. NBC [is] not moving forward with ‘Mockingbird Lane.’ From producers and cast, thank you all for enthusiasm and support.”

Strangly enough, the “Mockingbird Lane” Halloween special received decent reviews and ratings (5.4 million), so it’s interesting that the network didn’t at least give it a short test run.  And if Fuller’s tone is any indication, there is no chance of bringing the series to another network.

So for now, we big the Munster family adieu, and go back to the classics.
