Everybody knows what some of the highest grossing films of the year are (THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, THE AVENGERS, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN are just a few), but have you ever wondered what the absolute lowest grossing movie is? It’s actually pretty astounding…
While THE AVENGERS earned over $1.5 Billion, a little horror/thriller called PLAYBACK starring Christian Slater earned a total fo $264 when it was released back in March. $252 comes from when it was released in one theater, and an extra #12 came from the worldwide gross.
While it is pretty amazing that only 30 people went to see a movie (I feel like straight to DVD would have been more profitable…), the amount is still not the record holder for lowest gross overall…THAT title still goes to Tom Sizemore and Katherine Heigl’s ZYZZYXX ROAD, which earned a massive $30.
