After Alec Baldwin Tweets Homophobic Slurs At Reporter, Some Cry Foul Over Inconsistencies In Public Backlash.

Alec Baldwin hurled homophobic slurs at a British reporter who accused Baldwin's wife of tweeting about wedding presents while she was at James Gandolfini's funeral. Now critics are drawing comparisons to the Paula Deen scandal, raising questions about whether the media and society are selective about who gets a pass on improper language.

Alec Baldwin Hilaria ThomasAlec Baldwin hurled a few homophobic slurs at a British reporter who accused Baldwin’s wife of tweeting about wedding presents while she was at James Gandolfini’s funeral. Then, after the tirade, he shut down his twitter account.

Baldwin, whose temper is notorious, and who seems apparently infallible from backlash after numerous public tantrums both online and in recorded messages (remember when he called his daughter a “rude, thoughtless little pig” on her voicemail?) seems to always bounce back with little or no effort or public scrutiny.

Here’s what happened:
Baldwin and wife Hilaria Thomas went to James Gandolfini’s funeral on Thursday.

At some point, Hilaria tweeted about wedding presents and TV appearances. Just WHEN she did that is being disputed by both sides.

HERE ARE THE TWEETS… Click on the image to enlarge them.

Hilaria

British reporter George Stark (From the Daily Mail… which loves a good juicy scandal)  insists the tweets were posted during the funeral, citing that if that’s the case, it’s in poor taste. He cited:

  • Service for the Sopranos star started at 10am at a Catholic church in New York
  • Hilaria posted tweets at 9.53am, 10.17am and 11.09am

Alec Baldwin was not pleased. He turned to twitter to defend his wife. He started by calling him a “lying little bitch,” a “toxic Brit,” and then continued:

“If put my foot up your f**king ass, George Stark, but I’m sure you’d dig it too much,” one tweet read.

“I’m gonna find you George Stark, you toxic little queen, and I’m gonna f**k you… up,” he added.

Baldwin insists his wife’s tweets were instead made after the New York City service:

“My wife DID NOT use her phone, in any capacity, at our friends funeral. Now, f**k this twitter + good luck to all of you who know the truth.”

According to FOXNEWS: “this is not Baldwin’s first tech-based tirade. He was thrown off an airplane in 2011 for refusing to turn his phone off while playing Words With Friends. And following a Feburary altercation with a newspaper photographer, Baldwin reportedly made racist remarks, calling him a “coon” and a “crackhead.””

Several media outlets are crying foul over Baldwin’s numerous (and recent) tirades… citing a hypocrisy among those that seemingly give Baldwin ‘a pass’ after consistently offensive language, while Paula Deen, whose recent scandal involves inappropriate language from decades ago, yet despite apologies, has struggled to recover.
