WATCH: Matthew McConaughey Getting Rave Reviews For “Dallas Buyers Club”
You may remember seeing Matthew McConaughey looking frighteningly skinny this past year, in preparation for his role in the film “Dallas Buyers Club.” Now, after showing at the Toronto Film Festival, his performance is getting RAVE reviews and standing ovations. Watch the trailer here.
People thought Matt was crazy when he lost 52 pounds for the role. (remember when he looked so scarily skinny?) But he clearly thought it was what he had to do to portray a Texas man diagnosed with HIV in the 1980s … the story is based on the real life of Ron Woodroof, a womanizing Texas homophobe – who after being given 30 days to live, takes unusual steps to take his treatment into his own hands… learning and teaching some amazing lessons in the process.
The Hollywood Reporter’s David Rooney writes:
While much of the attention will focus on the actor’s astonishing weight loss for the role, transforming himself into a gaunt bag of bones for a good part of the action, this is a full-bodied characterization that will take McConaughey’s already impressive career regeneration several steps further.
This is a man who has reinvented his career!
“Dallas Buyers Club” will be released nationwide on Nov. 1 and you can expect an Oscar nomination for the performance.

McConaughey did an outstanding job in this movie, but Leto nearly stole the show. Both of these men portrayed characters distinctly dissimilar from their every-day selves; and better yet, they made their roles believable.
