John Travolta to Play John Gotti in New Film?

It seems as if John Travolta and John Gotti, Jr. recently grabbed dinner one night in New York.  Maybe it’s because Travolta is in talks to star in GOTTI, an upcoming film about three generations of the Gotti crime family.

In a talk with Entertainment Weekly, Marc Fiore, CEO of the production company Fiore Films, LLC, says that they would love Travolta for the role of John Gotti, Sr:

“We would love to have him…He’s a terrific actor. John Gotti, Sr. — he’s an icon. And so is Travolta … The Gottis have an image already. People know who they are. You can’t just be a good actor, you have to be a great actor who can become John Gotti.”

Nick Cassavetes, the director of THE NOTEBOOK and ALPHA DOG (two polar opposite films), is set to direct the film from a script by Leo Rossi, who worked closely with the Gottis.  Says Fiore,

“We have a real inside look…John, Jr. will answer any question you ask him. The Gotti family, they don’t try to put a sweater over things.”

Producers also claim that they’re in early talks with James Franco to star as John, Jr. but Franco’s agent say that they received the script, are aware of the project and that’s the extent of their involvement with the film at this point.
