Within the past three years, the TWILIGHT SAGA has taken control of teenage girls’ hearts (and blood streams). Now, just like HARRY POTTER, we have one installment left: BREAKING DAWN.
However, due to the story lines, there have been a lot of reports that BREAKING DAWN is almost not filmable. In the book, beds are obliterated, a young girl go through nine months of pregnancy in the blink of an eye, that shirtless Taylor Lautner is going to fall in love with a baby, and we will be getting the most messed-up delivery scene ever crafted: teeth cutting through placenta. If anything, the film will be R and not PG-13.
Now, Robert Pattinson is joining the bandwagon, not to say that the movie cannot be made, but that there is no way it won’t be R. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Pattinson said:
“I just can’t see how it’s going to be PG-13 … unless they cut everything out…There’s some interesting and weird stuff going on — really very, very, very strange. It’s great. For a big, mainstream movie, it’s the most obscure storyline and really outside the box. It’s a horror movie.”
Other recent statements byPattinson talk about the upcoming placenta scene with a few, shall we say, plays on words:
“Yeah, I’ve done it. I’ve chewed it, spat it out!”
Apparently, according to screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg and producer Wyck Godfrey, the gore and sex will primarily be off-screen, with Bella “looking through the haze.”
Still, though, Summit is saying that no matter what, “BREAKING DAWN will be a PG-13 [movie]. It will not be rated R,”
We shall all see soon enough.
