So today, we have somewhat of a treat or a downer for you, depending on which way your coin flips. The first teaser trailer for Paul W.S. Anderson’s THE THREE MUSKETEERS is out, and it’s somewhat of a mixed bag.
The trailer makes it seem like this is Anderson’s SHERLOCK HOLMES, bringing the Musketeers into a world with simultaneously fired cannons, automatic crossbows, and explosions that would make any arms dealer blush. At the same time, it’s shot completely in 3D. While I haven’t seen a movie that warrants the 3D besides AVATAR, I respect Anderson for shooting in the format instead of just lazily up-converting later. (And you could definitely see the many shots he put together to make the 3D stand out.)
So yeah…THE THREE MUSKETEERS brought into a new age and away from classic, and shot in a format that seems to already be going downhill. Check out the trailer below, and let us know if you think the film will go more WILD WILD WEST and CLASH OF THE TITANS, or SHERLOCK HOLMES and AVATAR.
