So this isn’t exactly what everyone was expecting…
According to Variety, 20th Century Fox has signed Sean Hayes of “Will and Grace” fame to play Larry Fine in the upcoming THREE STOOGES movie.
This is the second casting confirmation after Will Sasso (yes, from MadTV) being signed to play Curly.
I’m not sure what to think of this…suddenly, the movie that had Jim Carrey, Sean Penn and Benicio Del Toro in the leads has dropped to Will Sasso and Sean Hayes. Granted, I got nothing against either actor, and Sean Hayes has done an amazing job on Broadway, playing Jerry Lewis, and rocking physical comedy as Jack, but it’ll still be interesting to watch the movie thinking of how the original cast could have been. One huge saving grace could possibly be if Hank Azaria is cast as Moe (which is what the rumor seems to be at the moment). Only time will tell…
The movie, which will be a PG farce divided into three, 27-minute segments just like the original shorts, will be directed by the Farrelly brothers.
