Over the past few months, Adele has taken the U.S. by storm. I have not seen one bad review for her sophomore album, 21, and I have friends who can recite all the lyrics like it’s their Bible.
Sadly, though, the Grammy winner will have to leave the U.S. a little early. According to E!Online, Adele has been forced to scrap all the remaining dates on her North American tour due to a bad case of laryngitis.
Adele was initially diagnosed May 26 in Minneapolis. She cancelled the show that evening, and then performed that Saturday in Denver. However, Sunday night in Salt Lake City had to be nixed “when her illness worsened.”
Adele originally planned to postpone only five dates and resume the tour this Saturday in San Francisco, but after consulting with a throat specialist, it was determined that “it was imperative that she take the next few weeks to recover with absolute voice rest.”
Adele expressed her frustration in a statement:
“I’m really frustrated…I was hoping with a weeks rest I’d be better to sing again straight away. However, there is absolutely nothing I can do but take the doctor’s advice and rest some more. I’m so sorry. See you soon, love Adele.”
So for all of you who did get a chance to catch Adele in concert, whether it be here at the Beacon Theater in New York, or anywhere else, consider yourself lucky. For everyone else, here’s waiting to 23…
