THE HANGOVER PART II just became the highest grossing comedy of all time. Yup, just like that. And obviously, with that much money in the bank, Warner Bros doesn’t care about any reviews and has already greenlit a third installment.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Zach Galifianakis confirms this, saying,
“They want to do a Hangover III…I’m getting fricking phone calls already.”
Now we all know that Galifianakis is a jokster, but in the interview, he apparently also gave away some of the plot, saying that Alan will be in a mental institution right after the second movie, and Phil, Stu and Doug have to break him out.
On one level, this would be awesome, especially since it splits completely from the biggest problem of the second one: the same damn story. But on another level, since Galifianakis is just getting phone calls, who knows if this is even true, or if it’s just him trying to make a joke that everyone is taking as truth. Or it could be true and the script could be completely changed in the coming months.
Only time will tell, but whatever happens, THE HANGOVER PART III is coming.
