UPDATE: A source close to the actor told TMZ that the actor was NOT trying to kill himself, but had fallen off the wagon.
It is being reported this morning that “Tudors’ star Jonathan Rhys Meyers was rushed to a Central London hospital Tuesday night after a suicide attempt.
According to The Sun, paramedics arrived at the star’s Maida Vale home Tuesday evening to find Meyers “slumped” on the floor after taking a large quantity of pills. Upon their arrival, he refused medical attention, and asked paramedics to call police. A statement from Scotland Yard confirms these details:
“Officers were called by London Ambulance Service following reports of a man refusing treatment…The man was taken to hospital.”
Meyers was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday morning. When asked about his condition, he told The Sun, “No comment”.
Meyers has been battling a drinking problem for years. In early June, he checked into a South African rehab facility. It was his fifth time at rehab.
