Rowan Atkinson was sent to the hospital last night, after totaling his million dollar McLaren F1 sports car in a single car accident.
According to U.K. reports, the 56-year-old comedian, best known for his role as Mr. Bean, was driving in England around 7:30 PM last night when he lost control of the car, spun three times, ran into a tree and hit a signpost, and then caught on fire.
Atkinson was taken to a nearby hospital, but only suffered a minor shoulder injury. His car, on the other hand, was crushed.
Known for his love of fast cars, he recently appeared on the British car show Top Gear, where he recorded the fastest lap time in the program’s Star in a Reasonably Priced Car segment. He owns many vintage and classic cars, including Aston Martins and Rolls Royces, and has written articles for car magazines.
To add insult to injury, the McLaren F1 that crashed is apparently one of only about 65 in existence.
