So Vilnius, Lithuania, has a bit of a problem with illegal parking, does it?
No need to fear! Just call Mayor Arturas Zuokas!
According to the official Vilnius city website, “The Mayor has come up with a novel way of fighting illegal parking which has become an issue.” Then, we get to watch a little video…
The mayor himself appears in the video, first on a bike passing a car parked illegally in a pedestrian lane, under the narration,
“In the past few days, expensive cars have been illegally parked in almost this exact same place – a Rolls Royce and a Ferrari. What should the city do about drivers who think that they are above the law? A tank is the best solution.”
Yes, a tank. The mayor then climbs into exactly that, and drives it right over the car, crushing it!
The mayor shakes the hand of the ‘upscale’ owner of the car…a man dressed in a white blazer, accented with a ridiculous 80s looking gold chain. The car gets towed, the mayor sweeps up the rest of the glass, and hops back on his bike to pedal away!
According to the BBC, the “stunt” was filmed for the Swedish TV series, “99 Things You Should Do Before You Die.” Doesn’t mean it still isn’t ridiculous intimidating…
And fun…
Let’s not give the republicans any ideas.
