Eddie Murphy is Your Next Oscar Host!

It’s official!  Eddie Murphy will be your next Oscar host!

Yes, we are talking about the same Eddie Murphy who reportedly walked out of the 79th Annual Awards show after he didn’t win Best Supporting Actor for his role in Dreamgirls.

The hosting job pairs Murphy with his TOWER HEIST director Brett Ratner, who released a statement, saying,

“Eddie is a comedic genius, one of the greatest and most influential live performers ever…With his love of movies, history of crafting unforgettable characters and his iconic performances — especially on stage — I know he will bring excitement, spontaneity and tremendous heart to the show Don and I want to produce in February.”

Murphy also released a statement, saying,

“I’m looking forward to working with Brett and Don on creating a show that is enjoyable for both the fans at home and for the audience at the Kodak Theater as we all come together to celebrate and recognize the great film contributions and collaborations from the past year.”

I will clarify that Murphy’s publicist released that statement.

Murphy is the star of many films over the past three decades, including BEVERLY HILLS COP, 48 HRS, NORBIT and MEET DAVE.  Brett Ratner is the director of such blockbusters as THE FAMILY MAN, RED DRAGON, and the RUSH HOUR series.

I like the above picture, don’t you?
