James Brolin Could Have Been First American James Bond

We haven’t had an American James Bond yet, but it turns out that back in 1983, we were pretty close to getting one, thanks to James Brolin.

According to Worst Previews, when Brolin auditioned for the 1983 film Bond classic OCTOPUSSY, he was the favorite to replace Roger Moore, something that Brolin said was very close to happening:

“Roger Moore had made the decision to leave the franchise, but at the last minute he decided to continue playing the suave 007, which was a real disappointment.”

Moore came back one more time in 1985 for “A View to a Kill” before handing over Bond duties to Timothy Dalton.
