Nick Lachey Will Assist In Wife Vanessa’s Baby Delivery, But Only “Waist Up.”

Singer, host, and former boy bander Nick Lachey says he will help out wife Vanessa Minnillo when she gives birth with some coaching – but has strict plans to avoid making eye contact with her lady business.

Lachey served as a co-host on “Live! with Kelly” this week, and expressed his excitement about being a first time dad, but also his intentions on keep things above the waist when it comes time to make it happen.

“I’ve been told – because that’s what happens now, I’m told things – that it’s going to be a waist-up situation, if you know what I mean,” Lachey told Ripa.

“I’m gonna be there, I’m gonna be supportively there, holding hands, and coaching, breathing, all that good stuff … I won’t be down below, seeing what’s happening. I’ll be up above, helping… My work there is done! I was successful there. So we’ll keep it waist-up.”

Okay, there’s a lot of visuals coming up, so brace yourself. He continues with a story of how he was asked to video tape a friend’s wife giving birth.

I asked him, ‘How do you want me to handle this, do you want me to get in there and get the detail?’ And he said, ‘Yeah.’ …We all got very close that day.”

Get in there and get the detail?!? That. Is. Hysterical! Well, first off, it’s a little bit ew. But after you get over that it’s hysterical.

Lachey, 38, and wife Minnillo, 31, were married in 2011. His first wife, Jessica Simpson is expecting a baby of her own – her first – with NFL player Eric Johnson.
