UPDATE: Richard Gere Says He Doesn’t Like PRETTY WOMAN, Has “Forgotten It”
UPDATE: A rep for Richard Gere is now telling E! News that the story from Australia’s Woman’s Day is completely false, saying, “He did not give an interview to this publication.”
PRETTY WOMAN may be a fan favorite in the realm of romantic comedies, but that doesn’t mean its stars have to like the movie!
In a new interview with Woman’s Day magazine, Richard Gere has revealed that out of all his movies, PRETTY WOMAN was by far his least favorite:
“People ask me about that movie, but I’ve forgotten it. That was a silly romantic comedy…It made those guys seem dashing, which was so wrong. Thankfully, today, we are all more skeptical of those guys.”
Obviously, Gere is talking about his character, Edward Lewis, who was a rich businessman, a profession not really well-liked in this day and age. Yet, even with this stigma, I still enjoy PRETTY WOMAN, if only for the fun Cinderalla story.
The real question is, does the idea of businessmen today being crooks change the meaning of the film to you? Let us know!
