Russell Brand Turns Himself In To Police…Over an iPhone Attack.
Russell Brand has a new mugshot.
Russell Brand has turned himself in after an arrest warrant had been issued in New Orleans seeking his arrest. A photographer is accusing him the comedian of grabbing his iPhone and tossing it through a window.
Brand was booked on one count of simple criminal damage to property and released about an hour later after posting a $5,000 bond.
New Orleans police spokesman Officer Garry Flot said earlier today that the misdemeanor warrant was for suspicion of simple criminal damage and the offense carries a $700 fine.
TMZ posted photos of Brand pulling an iPhone from a man in a car… Another photo on the site shows a broken window.
A spokesman for Brand could not be reached for comment on the arrest warrant.
Brand thinks the whole thing is funny apparently, cracking a joke on twitter: “Since Steve Jobs died I cannot bear to see anyone use an iPhone irreverently, what I did was a tribute to his memory.” Yuk yuk.
Brand is currently in New Orleans filming Diablo Cody’s latest untitled film project.
