A tad confident, wouldn’t you say?
Well now, in a new interview with MTV at the Tribeca screening of THE AVENGERS, Downey spoke out about Feige’s comments, stating:
“I would really hate for someone else to think they could step into my shoes. I wonder who’s playing Tony Stark next.”

So how long does Downey plan to play Tony Stark?

“I know things are looking like that they could go on for a long while. As usual, it’s all about quality control and delivering a product that you can have this kind of reaction to (referring to ‘The Avengers’ screening at Tribeca). If they keep doing that, maybe I’ll keep showing up.”

I think that is the perfect answer.  As long as the movies are good and the product is delivered with care and a good story line, we will all show up for more.  The second it’s all for the money is the second we leave.  And I’m thankful that Downey is on the same page.
