Is J-Lo Leaving American Idol…Or Angling For More Money?

Just as Jennifer Lopez took the top spot on Forbes' annual power list, she's dropping the bomb that she may not come back for a third season of "American Idol." Is it true... or a strategy to cash in even more?

Just as Jennifer Lopez took the top spot on Forbes’ annual power list, she’s dropping the bomb that she may not come back for a third season of “American Idol.” Is it true… or a strategy to cash in even more?

Lopez – who makes a reported 20 million for judging season two of the FOX competition show, is doing the interview circuit for her new film, “What to Expect When You’re Expecting,” and mentioned the possibility on Ellen.

“Now this is my second year — I don’t know if I can go for a third year. I miss doing other things. It really does lock you down, which was nice the first year with the babies [she has twins with ex Marc Anthony] being 3, but now they’re getting more mobile, they’re about to go into school. . . . So I just don’t know.”

It may be that since Britney Spears just joined X-Factor and Christina Aguilera is already on The Voice, Lopez is well aware that reality competition shows need their diva musical artist to round out a panel, and she’s seeing an opportunity to cash in even further.

To break down how 20 million for American Idol shakes down… here’s how much she banks monthly, (before taxes) weekly and daily, not including her fragrance, music and film income:

  • Monthly: USD 1,666,666.00
  • Weekly: USD 400,000.00
  • Daily: USD 80,000.00

Wowsers!~ Was it just me or did you just go on a long daydream of what you’d do with that money too?

  • Angling for more money. What she needs to do is find a way to get rid of that little boy she’s playing jacks with.In the end he’ll be wanting to get paid. All that money and no common sense. She’d be better off by going to the Marshall home for men and finding a mate.
