Marvel Head Speaks Out on IRON MAN 3, Tony Stark’s Alcoholism, and The Hulk Appearances

Ever since IRON MAN 2 hinted at Tony Stark's depression and alcoholism, we've been wondering how far the next cinematic chapter will go to bring out that dark side...and now, we have the answer!

Ever since IRON MAN 2 hinted at Tony Stark’s depression and alcoholism, we’ve been wondering how far the next cinematic chapter will go to bring out that dark side…and now, we have the answer!

Marvel head Kevin Feige recently sat down with Empire Magazine to discuss the third entry of their hit franchise, and confirmed that while the “Demon in a Bottle” storyline is epic among Iron Man lore, it would not be a part of this next film:

“He’s not an alcoholic in the movies. Maybe one day that’s a deeper story, but we’re not going to do it unless we can make it a full-focused plot…It’s Tony’s most personal journey since he was trapped in a cave in the first half of the first movie, but it’ll also have the largest spectacle of any of the ‘Iron Man movies.”

Feige also spoke about the fans’ eagerness to see Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk cameo somehow, especially after the two left together at the end of AVENGERS.  Sadly, Feige says that the two will not be seeing each other this time around:

“We will see the Ruffalo Hulk in the future. I don’t know when or how exactly, but he’s an interesting character, and so many new avenues have opened up. But now in the movies, who’s gonna pop up where? You’re never quite sure.”

No matter what, Feige revealed that he feels IRON MAN 3 will be the best out of the trilogy.  And as for the mysterious 2014 Marvel movie that has yet to be announced: “Our next step will be to introduce a character outside the Avengers’ world.”

I say we have a lot to look forward to…
