While Will Smith Praises MEN IN BLACK III, Josh Brolin Accidentally Insults It

Imagine being a Hollywood director, and while your lead actor (one of the most bankable stars on the planet) is praising your movie, another very respected supporting actor is trashing it. That is exactly what happened to Barry Sonnenfeld for MEN IN BLACK III.

Well this is a bit of a conflict…

Imagine being a Hollywood director, and while your lead actor (one of the most bankable stars on the planet) is praising your movie, another very respected supporting actor is trashing it.  That is exactly what happened to Barry Sonnenfeld for MEN IN BLACK III.

In a new interview with Access Hollywood, Will Smith talks about the new movie, his first in three years, and says that he loves being back in Agent J’s shoes:

“I came up [with the idea] — I don’t remember, we were sitting on the set or something, I just loved this character, I loved this world and you know, even the people…[Director] Barry Sonnenfeld is the like, the absolute lunatic, [and] Josh Brolin is the secret weapon.”

Smith even praised Josh Brolin’s spot-on impression of Tommy Lee Jones’ Agent K:

“People thought that Tommy Lee Jones was doing the voice over…No, that’s all Josh Brolin! I think it’s gonna be such a surprise for people…It’s a shock when you see him come on camera and then what’s a real tribute is a few minutes after he’s on camera, it just goes away…It just absolutely goes away and you’re not even thinking about it, that’s just a young Tommy Lee Jones.”

Sounds like a fun time, no?
Well not to Josh Brolin…during a press conference for the same movie, Brolin was asked about the upcoming OLDBOY remake that he will be starring in, causing him to inadvertently insult MIB III:

“OLDBOY will be an experience. It wont be like MEN IN BLACK, I’ll tell you that much. I’m really happy about it…We got amazing actors: [Elizabeth] Olsen, who I think is fantastic and we also got Sharlto Copley from ‘District 9.’ who I think is going to be unbelievable.”

Hmm…”It won’t be like MEN IN BLACK, I’ll tell you that much”…?  That can’t be a good sign…

So what do you think?  Do you think MEN IN BLACK III will be a great movie that could leave you wanting more, or did Josh Brolin just reveal that it’ll all be a mess?
