Katie Holmes’ New Phase

If the people I have spoken to on the July  fourth holiday are any indication, the world is celebrating Katie Holmes’ emancipation from Tom Cruise.  Now an interview with Elle magazine given before the divorce filing shows Holmes had a new phase in mind for some time now.

In Elle magazine’s August issue, which hits newsstands July 17, Holmes describes the challenges of living life with a celeb as high profile as Cruise, as well as her “new phase.”

“He has been Tom Cruise for 30 years … I know who I am and where I am and where I want to go, so I want to focus on that.”

On her career while married to Cruise – does it help or hurt?:

“Things are not handed to anyone,” she said. “If anything, you work a little bit harder when you’re in such visible circumstances.”

On being in her twenties…. (coincidentally, when she  met and married Cruise.):

“it’s like you’re trying too hard to figure everything out.”

“I definitely feel much more comfortable in my own skin. I feel sexier … I’m starting to come into my own. It’s like a new phase.”
