After the 2008 Beijing Games opening ceremony blew the pants off of basically everyone watching, many were thinking how could the next guy possibly top it?  Turns out that the guys behind London’s opening ceremony have come up with the perfect plan: Mary Poppins versus Voldemort!

The Times of London is reporting that, in addition to nine geese, Friday’s opening ceremony will feature 30 Mary Poppinses fighting a 40-foot Voldemort!

That isn’t a joke…

According to reports, about 100 children will be wheeled out on hospital beds to perform “a choreographed ‘bed dance,'” followed by a dozen more “giant” ones containing beloved storybook characters, including 101 DALMATIANS villain Cruella de Vil.

Interesting…

Suddenly, a 40-foot-tall Voldemort will rise up from yet another giant bed in the middle of the stadium, bringing with him “dozens of Dementors—creatures that feed off human happiness—streaming into the arena from all directions and scaring the children.”

But fear not, children…at that point, the 30 Poppinses will enter from the ceiling, via umbrella and destroy the evil with a spoonful of sugar (and maybe some magic…).

So in conclusion…London is a very interesting place…and is taking its history of beloved fictional characters very, very seriously.

Oh yeah…and there may also be bubbles…
