Madonna Facing Lawuit Over Use Of Swastika In France

Here’s what went down. First, at a concert in Tel Aviv, she previewed a video that showed an image of Marine Le Pen, the leader of France’s right-wright Front National Party, with a swastika imposed over her head. Le Pen was not amused and said that if Madge played that video in France, folks would “be waiting for her.”

Madonna, who doesn’t usually cower to threats, played it. (See the video below.) La Pen’s people were ready and waiting  – with a lawsuit.

The FNP’s lawyer Me Wallerand de Saint-Just said, “Showing Marine Le Pen’s image with a swastika is like saying she is a Nazi.” The issue should hit the Paris courts within the next few days.

Madonna’s tour returns to France to play Nice on August 21st, so we’ll all be watching to see if the video makes another appearance.
