Ivan Reitman Speaks Out On GHOSTBUSTERS 3 and TRIPLETS

With recent updates for GHOSTBUSTERS 3 and the TWINS sequel, TRIPLETS, fans were actually starting to think that they might just have two acceptable movies coming their way in the next few years.

Ivan Reitman just singlehandedly destroyed all those hopes.

While promoting the Blu-Ray release of his 1993 comedy DAVE, Reitman spoke out about both upcoming sequels, and neither comment was really promising…

First off, Reitman said that while everyone is trying for GHOSTBUSTERS 3, it seems like a remake would be a better choice than a direct sequel:

“I think ‘Ghostbusters’ probably should be remade, if we can get it all right. We’re working on it, so we’ll see.”

Whether this means that Akyroyd and co are actually making a remake instead of a sequel, or Reitman is just not in the loop is yet to be seen, but either way, it isn’t exactly promising when it comes to progress…

As for TRIPLETS, any news about a great script idea and the involvement of Eddie Murphy has gone out the window:

“There’s no writer, and there’s no idea yet…I think [the Eddie Murphy announcement] was more of a press release than anything else.”

And there goes that…

So for now, I guess we can all just look back at the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man and an Arnold/Danny twin combo with fondness and say thanks for the memories!
