It seems like lately, we’ve only been hearing bad news about the new “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” movie.  From Aliens to Teenage to mixed origin stories, it looked like the new film was a lost cause for most fans of the original series and comic book.

Except for TMNT creator Kevin Eastman, who is now comparing the new film to THE AVENGERS.

In a new interview with NBC 5 Chicago, Eastman praised what he’s seen of the film’s preproduction, saying that it is inspired by all the best parts of recent hits:

“Jonathan Liebesman is going to make a great film. From what I’ve seen of the script, it’s fantastic. Michael Bay has made some great and intense movies. We’re talking about being inspired by movies like THE AVENGERS for scope and roots origin and THE RAID: REDEMPTION for fight scenes and RISE FOR THE APES as far as computer-quality style.”

Eastman made the reference once more in an interview with The Examiner, as he told fans not to worry about the changes to come:

“I like to answer this by basically telling the fans first and foremost not to worry, this will be a great TMNT film. Much like many thirty year old concepts, the TMNT’s have been re-invented a number of times, some were stronger than others, but if you look at what Viacom/Nickelodeon has done/allowed to happen with the new TMNT animated TV series, and the new IDW comic series, each has a slightly new and refreshed take on the “core concept,” the new film with be the same, a film “well placed” in the TMNT lore the fans will enjoy. If we learned nothing else from one of my favorite comic book based films, The Avengers, that there’s a lot to be said about never forgetting that core concept and core fan-base.”

So could a new “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” movie really live up to the expectations Eastman is setting?  And is it dangerous to say such things after so much hatred was thrown out there just a few weeks ago?  This thing has a lot to live up to…

The question is, do YOU think Michael Bay can pull off a good TMNT film with what we’ve heard so far?

Disney Reveals Early Unseen Sketches Of Buzz Lightyear Who Was Almost Called ‘Lunar Larry’

The space ranger could have looked a lot stranger.

It has been 25 years since Toy Story hit theaters…god we’re getting old…which means we have loved Buzz Lightyear for decades now. The beloved space ranger has become a staple in pop culture with his zest for adventure and signature catchphrase but what if Buzz was never “Buzz?”

To celebrate the milestone anniversary Disney has shared sketches of the early concepts for Buzz Lightyear who was actually going to be named “Lunar Larry.” Points for alliteration but sounds more like a cheesy superhero parody than a cool, futuristic action figure that every kid would have on their Christmas list. The pencil drawings vary in style but most of them feature an “LL” on the rangers chest. As time went on, the renderings began to look more and more like the Buzz we all know and love.

Along with the sketches, Disney also announced the launch of their virtual film festival “Pixar Fest.” The family-friendly fest will premiere on August 9th in the UK with an epic stream of Pixar movies on Disney+ along with other exciting content such as watchalongs, animator masterclasses, quizzes, arts and crafts for kids, and product releases.
