ABC News spokesman Jeffrey Schneider says that the 83-year-old fell Saturday night on a step at the residence of Britain’s ambassador to the United States, Peter Westmacott. “Out of an abundance of caution”, Walters was taken to the hospital for a full examination and to treat a cut on her forehead.

The fall left Walters with a cut on her forehead.

Earlier today, “The View” cohost Whoopi Goldberg took a minute to update fans on Walters’ condition, by reading a statement straight from the reporting great:

“First and foremost, I want to thank all the people who have called, written and been concerned about me…I am most appreciative. I’m running a low-grade fever and the doctors are keeping me in the hospital until my temperature is normal. I’m pleased to say that it is going in the right direction and I will be home soon.”

Luckily, Schneider also confirmed that Walters is doing well, and is already telling everyone what to do,” which is “a very positive sign.”

We wish her only the best.
