theshining-closingshotStanley Kubrick’s THE SHINING is considered by many as a horror classic.  But what you may have not realized was that when the film was originally released Kubrick cut a two minute scene from the ending.  Now, after years of wondering, fans finally have an idea of what that ending was.

Diane Johnson, who helped write the screenplay for the classic, described the original scene and Kubrick’s feelings towards it:

“Kubrick had filmed a final scene that was cut, where Wendy and Danny are recovering from the shock in a hospital and where Ullman visits them…Kubrick felt that we should see them in the hospital so we would know that they were all right. He had a soft spot for Wendy and Danny and thought that, at the end of a horror film, the audience should be reassured that everything was back to normal.”

As the story goes, the eccentric director ordered all reels to be returned to Warner Bros to make sure that the footage would be destroyed, but somehow, TOY STORY 3 director Lee Unkrich (a huge fan of the film) tracked down the script and posted the final, four-page scene in its entirety.

Take a look at the creepy pages below, and just imagine the chills running down your spine if you were able to watch the scene in theaters.
