James McAvoy Gloriously Praises Confirms X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, Confirms Alan Cumming’s Nightcrawler Return

If the laundry list of former X-MEN stars, time travel and alternate dimensions wasn’t enough to make you want to see X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, a new interview with star James McAvoy will surely give you a push in the right direction.

james-mcavoyIf the laundry list of former X-MEN stars, time travel and alternate dimensions wasn’t enough to make you want to see X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, a new interview with star James McAvoy will surely give you a push in the right direction.

In a new interview with Heat Radio, the young Charles Xavier raved about the epicness that will be heading to screens soon, comparing the cast to a Spielberg war classic:

“It’s going to be a humongous cast. It’s going to be like the cast of the beach scenes in SAVING PRIVATE RYAN but everyone’s a mutant and everyone you’ve seen in other movies before.”

McAvoy also (and possibly by accident) let is slip that another X-MEN alum has signed on: Alan Cumming, or Nightcrawler.  In a separate interview, he listed the wonderful cast, and even threw a playful jab at the massive “Huge” Jackman:

“You got me, [Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender,] Nicholas Hoult will be back, and he’s just blossoming massively over [in America]. Patrick Stewart, Ian Mckellen, Halle Berry, Alan Cumming, Peter Dinklage I hear mentioned – I don’t know if that’s happening – “Huge” Jackman is coming by, he’s massive, 7’5″ and muscley.”

So where will McAvoy’s Professor X be headed in this go around.  McAvoy confessed that this will be a much darker turn for the character, and a major step in the road to the persona Patrick Stewart brought to the screen back in 1999:

“I think it’s going to be quite a dark journey compared to the caddish, almost playboy character that we turned him into in the first movie…I think it will be going through a darker place to ultimately get a sorted Professor X that we’re used to seeing come the third movie. This movie might be a little bit more of a passing through the crucible for him.”

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, and every single mutant that comes with it, hits theaters July 18, 2014.

We will be waiting…
