Stars Reach Higher Ground in Week 6 of DWTS - POP GOES THE WEEK!!

Stars Reach Higher Ground in Week 6 of DWTS

kelliederekSpecial guest Stevie Wonder was on hand to perform live, while the teams each danced routines set to popular tunes from his chart-topping songbook.

The three remaining women are really dominating the competition this season, even though they are currently outnumbered by the men. Zendaya set the bar high, bringing in two 10s for her “gobsmacking gorgeous” cha cha cha at the top of the show. Later, Aly answered the challenge, scoring a solid 27 for her elegant fox trot.

In addition to their individual numbers, the stars also teamed up for two group dances. Team Samba (Andy, Kellie, Aly, and Sean) came out on top with 25 points, while Team Paso (Jacoby, Ingo, Victor, and Zendaya) scored a respectable 22 points. The team scores will be added to each star’s total, for tonight’s elimination.

Dance of the Night: Kellie and Derek’s quick step. Bruno gushed that it was “sumptuous dancing of the best quality, traditional and exciting.” Head judge Len Goodman cut right to the chase by declaring it the best dance he’s seen this season. Watch the performance that inspired such accolades:

One to watch: Ingo Rademacher looked every bit the leading man in last night’s tango with partner Kym Johnson. Len noted that it was “sharp” and “crisp,” and that the dance really suited Ingo. This veteran soap star has been showing consistent improvement every week, and last night scored a personal best of 24 points. I think he’ll be around for a few more weeks at least.

Head scratcher: Stevie Wonder sang his classic hit “Sir Duke” standing in the middle of the floor, while five of the professional troupe women danced around him. Sure, okay. But at one point, the choreography included one of the dancers blowing him a kiss. Really? Now what would have been truly brilliant, is if Stevie had pretended to catch it at that very moment. On the wrong side.

High scores (individual): Zendaya and Val/ Kellie and Derek – 29
Low scores (individual): Andy and Sharna/ Victor and Lindsay – 18
