POP MUSIC: Ed Sheeran Covered In Muppet Fur In ‘Happier’ Video

It’s time to play the music. It’s time to light the lights. It’s time to feel strange feelings with Mupp-Ed Sheeran tonight.

The lovable Ed Sheeran released a new music video for his single “Happier,” and made the creative decision to use puppets and balloon animals in lieu of actors. I grew up on The Muppets, so my opinion on the subject matter is extremely biased. The song is about an ex being happier with someone else, and all the woes one that come along with that. Hmm…a little bit of heavy talk for a puppet singer and a ballon twisted love interest. Mixing the feelings further, Mupp-Ed pummels the new, puppet boyfriend and goes on a rampage, destroying a balloon twisted bar. I know Miss Piggy would give Gonzo a nice wound-up whack every now and then, but the laugh track always made me feel like both parties enjoyed the exchange.

While the video might not match the song’s message, the song itself is exactly what we like from the English singer. It’s smooth and soft, with lyrics that really tug at the heartstrings. I’m able to remove my love for muppetry and admit that this song is iPod worthy. The single is off Sheeran’s latest album “÷,” which is available now. Check out the music video below!
