From “Beautiful Trauma” to being most “Beautiful,” Pink has got to be one of the most versatile and influential performers of our day. To solidify this fact, Pink graces the cover of People’s “Beautiful Issue” (formerly People’s “Most Beautiful”) this year, along with her two beautiful children.
The meat of the magazine gives us more reasons to love the singing sensation, as she gives refreshingly honest glimpses into her life as a parent to daughter Willow (6) and son Jameson (16 months).
“The thing about parenting is you never know if anything you’re doing is working. That’s been the most humbling thing for me. In my head I sound amazing, and then I turn around and (Willow’s) eyes are completely glazed over. I have no idea. We’ll see.”
Pink also discusses her marriage to Carey Hart, and how she has somehow gone from badass to bad-cop.
“Everything I do as a parent is what I swore I’d never do. I’m way more serious, and I’m bad cop. I never thought I’d be bad cop. My husband promised me I wouldn’t be bad cop, and he has failed me in that way. He’s fun guy, Mr. Fun! And then I come in with the rules.”
What’s most impressive from the singer’s parenting style is her honest, and realistic approach. She wants to be sure her kids can express themselves freely. Simultaneously, she wants to prepare her children for the unfair standards the world can sometimes set.
“I tell my daughter the truth. I let her be 6, but I want her to know about fairness and kindness and that you have to fight for your rights, and that sometimes girls aren’t paid as much as boys for the same job, and girls aren’t treated the same, and that they have to work harder for everything.” Also saying, “And I believe that a boy can do anything. So I have boys that flip dirt bikes and I have boy friends that wear dresses. It’s all okay to me. It’s whatever floats your boat. So that’s the kind of house that we live in.”
