The O.G’s of the housewives franchise, The Real Housewives Of Orange County, still have fans glued to their screens each week 13 seasons in. Is it Vicki’s flare for the dramatics, Tamra’s feisty banter, or Shannon’s attempt to failed attempts to imitate foreign accents that keep fans intrigued? I’d like to think it’s a combination of all three.
After last season, it was announced that Shannon was divorcing her husband, so this season shows the housewife meandering through the dating world for the first time in over twenty years. Subsequently we see the relationship between besties Shannon and Tamra take a tumble, which leads to quite the explosive blowout. Vicki seems to finally be back in the good graces of her gal pals. Remember when she accused Shannon’s ex husband of domestic abuse and then spread the rumor that Tamra’s husband is gay? Well bygones are bygone after Vicki spent much of last season on an island all her own. Kelly, aka my favorite guilty pleasure, is also going through a divorce but in typical Kelly fashion, she just keeps tossing out one liner after one liner. Never divorce that funny bone girl. This season, it looks like we have two new housewives replacing Peggy and Lydia. I don’t think anyone expected Peggy to come back for a second season, but this is the second time in the show’s history that Lydia has popped in for a season, only to bow out before coming back for a second. Perhaps the crazy is only acceptable in small doses. One of the new housewives is an attorney…who still uses a corset? And the other, is originally from Long Island. It will be interesting to see how the new girls mix in with this motley crew. Side note, where’s Meghan? Did she get the ax?
Other notable highlights include a trip to Jamaica (listen closely for Shannon’s “Jamaican” accent), Tamra’s panic over her husband’s surgery, and of course, some sort of medical issue involving Vicki. Needless to say this season looks juicy as it tackles marriage, divorce, friendship and fighting. Take a look at the trailer below!
The Real Housewives Of Orange County will premiere on July 16th at 8pm EST on Bravo.
