TRAILER: ‘X-Men Dark Phoenix’ Looks To Be An Uncanny X-Citement!

X-tra, x-tra! Read all about it! The latest installment in the X-Men film franchise looks to be the most dramatic yet! If you are a fan of the beloved comic book series then you already know that the Dark Phoenix saga is one of the most pivotal moments in X-Men history…and if you are not a fan, you’ll understand why I haven’t invited you to be a part of my matching latex gang.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix takes place after the events of X-Men: Apocalypse, the film in which Professor Charles Xavier convinces fellow telepath, Jean Grey, to unleash her full potential to help defeat the film’s villain. It looks like the consequences of this evolution in power come to fruition in Dark Phoenix as Jean Grey becomes unstable…and unstable is an understatement. In the trailer the telekinetic telepath reveals that she is experiencing all of the pain, rage and suffering of her teammates which proves to be overwhelming to say the least. The added influences in her mind cause Jean to become the Dark Phoenix, one of the most devastating enemies the X-Men have ever encountered.

The trailer also shows the deteriorating relationship between the gaggle of mutants and their leader Professor Charles Xavier. Xavier used his telepathic powers to restrain Jean’s potential for most of her life. It wasn’t until he needed her help to defeat Apocalypse that he he lifted those restraints. When the rest of the team finds out how their leader has manipulated their fellow teammate, there’s a bit of mutiny….or should I say mutant-ny.

All of our favorites will be reprising their roles for the latest installment. James McAvoy is back as Professor Xavier, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Nicholas Hoult as Beast and Tye Sheridan as Cyclops.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix hits theatres on February 14th! Check out the trailer below!
