It’s a whole new world for fans of Disney’s Aladdin as the classic, animated film has been reimagined for live-action. You won’t have to rub any magic lamps to see this blockbuster, it’s hitting theaters in mere months!
The classic animated film told the story of the “street rat” Aladdin and how his life changed forever once he found a genie’s lamp. After falsely assuming the identity of a prince, Aladdin falls in love with the princess of Agrabah, Jasmine. The standout character from the film was Robin Williams who voiced the iconic role of the Genie.
The sneak peek of the live-action doesn’t reveal too much but Disney’s official synopsis does:
““Aladdin” is the exciting tale of the charming street rat Aladdin, the courageous and self-determined Princess Jasmine and the Genie who may be the key to their future. Directed by Guy Ritchie, who brings his singular flair for fast-paced, visceral action to the fictitious port city of Agrabah, the film is written by John August and Ritchie based on Disney’s “Aladdin.””
The new film stars Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Scott as Jasmine, Marwan Kenzari as the villain, Jafar and Will Smith as the Genie. Disney’s live-action renditions of their classic films always seem to impress and I am sure this time is no different. Take a look at the trailer below!
Aladdin hits theaters May 24, 2019.
