NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice” may be a competition about stars raising money for charity – but it’s quickly becoming more of a comeback vehicle. Recent winner Arsenio Hall has just landed a late night talk show roughly twenty years after his last one. The 56-year-old comic’s syndicated show is slated to premiere in September 2013 on CBS stations.

Says Hall, according to the LA Times: “In the end I’m a comic, and nothing fits the talk-show mode like a stand-up comic  … I know there are a lot of shows, but I think there’s a space for my show.”

Hall’s first talk show premiered in 1989 and was quick to gain popularity. 20 years ago this month then presidential candidate Bill Clinton  appeared as a guest and played the saxophone. It was a moment that redefined the way politicians reach out to young voters.

The series went off the air in 1994.
