David Archuleta Is Down, In More Ways Than One

Gossip Cop reports that American Idol Season Seven Runner-Up David Archuleta has been dropped by Jive Records after disappointing sales.

His latest album, “The Other Side of Down” (ironic title, anyone?) sold only 63,000 units, and Archuleta was given the ax. His debut album had gone platinum, which amounts to more than a million copies, but the sophomore attempt was apparently too dismal to warrant further investment.

The winner of season seven, David Cook, is the fifth highest grossing Ameican Idol contestant, among winners and losers (Rocker Chris Daughtry didn’t win the 2006 season, but has managed to be the third highest selling performer, under Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood.)

Recent winner Adam Lambert’s “For Your Entertainment” is currently nearing the 800,000 unit mark.
